Stanmore Country Park is a large site just north of Stanmore town centre (and lying below the more open space of Wood Farm - see map at bottom of page). It is surprisingly quiet given how close it is to Stanmore, and is ecologically diverse including ancient woodland, acid grassland, wet meadows and ponds.
The site needs a volunteer warden to take care of it. This is not a terribly time consuming task - perhaps on average two days per month - but will have a real positive impact on nature and the local environment.
Visiting the site regularly and noting problems and opportunities
Supervising volunteer working parties and contractor work
Working with Harrow Nature Conservation Forum and Harrow Council to bring in funds for specific projects
Attending meetings of Harrow Nature Conservation Forum and Greater Stanmore Country Park Management Committee (six per year in total)
You will be a member of Harrow Nature Conservation Forum and covered by their insurance.
